The Woebegone team's passion and knowledge is a gateway for unforgettable experiences! Good vibes, great people, and great food (shout-out to Lara for her insane banana bread). My family and I have done several charter dives (both day and night) and cannot recommend enough. Every dive is different and magical, seeing various sea life from grey nurse sharks, to turtles, octopi, and so much more!

My sister and I recently completed the Wave 1 course - which was an amazing weekend. Dylan is a fantastic coach - super encouraging and made the whole thing feel way less intimidating right from the start. He, Lara, and their team are so passionate about free diving, and it really shows in the way they teach and support everyone. They also go above and beyond to raise awareness about sustainability and deepen our appreciation for our marine friends and the natural beauty of Jervis Bay.

No sharks!
Edit:
Hey Dylan,
You control your social media posts though! I see you just claimed to see a school of 40 sharks one day but don’t mention all the other days you saw nothing!
I wasn’t planning to leave a review, but since you asked multiple times, I gave an honest one. I understand wildlife can’t be guaranteed, but your advertising strongly suggests frequent shark sightings. Leading up to our tour, you kept posting videos of diving with lots of sharks yet on the day you said none had been seen for weeks and you didn’t know where they had gone. Even now, your social media still has a recent post come swim with sharks this weekend and never once mentions as you now claim, you often don’t deliver that experience.
I booked this tour specifically for the opportunity for my son and I to swim with grey nurse sharks, so it was disappointing to find out the reality didn’t match the expectation. A system like the whale-watching tours, where they post recent sightings, would help manage expectations better.

Also, the video of our day we paid for didn’t include any footage of my son or I, even though I mentioned my GoPro wasn’t working. I left that out of my review and focused only on the sharks, as I believe that’s important for future customers to know.

I appreciate the effort you put into your business, but clearer communication about sightings would make for a better experience.

Regards,
Brett

Probably one of the best experiences of my life. Dylan and the rest of the team were amazing. We made an error with the booking and they were really comprehensive with us. The way they organise the activity and how they are so respectful with the whales and evertything is what really makes this experience unique. Thank you very much and hope to be able to meet you again!

An experience you will not regret, I want to come back next year and do it all over again. I can't even explain what it was like being in the water with whales, such an out of body experience for me. Thank you so much to Wobebogone Freedive for the experience. I will forever recommend this to everyone. Not many ethical animal experiences out there and you guys really show how much you care and respect their ecosystem.

Me and my sister completed the Wave 1 Course with Woebegone, and it was an absolutely phenomenal experience. Dylan and Lara bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a deep passion for the ocean and freediving. Their enthusiasm is truly contagious! Every part of the course was engaging from the training to the delicious food, especially Laras banana bread! Dylan and Liam took us to an amazing dive spot, with sharks and marine life as an added bonus! It was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all our expectations. If you're looking to learn freediving in a supportive and fun environment or looking to go out and explore the bay, we can't recommend Woebegone enough 🙂

I recently joined Woebegone Freedive for a half-day adventure in Jervis Bay, and it was absolutely unforgettable! From start to finish, our guide Dylan was fantastic—so knowledgeable, friendly, and reassuring. He made sure everyone in our group of 12 felt safe and comfortable, sharing great insights into the marine life we encountered.

The highlight of the trip was swimming alongside playful seals, a truly surreal experience that felt like something out of a nature documentary. But then, as if the day couldn’t get any better, we were incredibly lucky to swim with not one but two whales at the very end of the tour. It was beyond magical and something I’ll remember for a lifetime. I can’t recommend Woebegone Freedive highly enough! Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a beginner, this is an adventure not to be missed.

Thank you to Liam and Dylan for the fantastic day, and to Lara for answering all of our strange questions, and for the amazing banana bread, which was the second best thing after the seals on the day 🙂
We were a bit nervous at the beginning, as the day was rainy and cooler than expected, but Dylan assured us the water would be warm:) Ok, it wasn't warm, I would say, it was far from warm, but the wetsuits did the job. The first stop was the swimming with seals. It was possibly the best snorkelling experience (we did swim with whale sharks, and turtles in the past) of the year. They are the cutest animals, curious, and playful. Followed by hot chocolate and yummy banana bread before we jumped into the cold water again to see grey nurse sharks in their native habitat. They didn't care too much about us, which was a win win for everyone 🙂 After the trip we also received the videos that Liam took. Amazing shots, thank you!!! We will definitely be back and try other programmes.

I went night snorkelling with Woebegone Freedive last night. Dylan took us to the eastern end of Murray’s Beach. I’ve snorkelled with these guys a few times but only during the day. The night snorkel was outstanding, exceptional, amazing. We saw masses and masses of fish, we floated in the dark and saw blue bioluminescence , we saw rays, urchins, 2 woebegone sharks and one grey nurse shark. Can’t recommend these guys highly enough. Their care for the environment and their care for their clients shines through in everything they do.
