Two years of my life spent living in one of the best campuses in Australia, which offered great living conditions, is very welcoming of international students like myself, great staff, security, facilities and amenities. Gave you the feeling of a suburban lifestyle within a naturesque world. Love this campus and I miss living here so much!

Law student City Campus -
The sense of community, the level of support and the fantastic staff and lecturers. I was the student who fell asleep during every lesson in school as well as all other educational coursework I had completed.
I am engaged and motivated almost all the time 😉 I am also very impressed with the actual hands-on focus of practical experience.

I studied at this university a few years ago and got a bachelor's degree in computer science. There was some left wing propaganda 6 years ago however the university had more of a middle ground back then.

Now the university has significant amounts of left wing propaganda in every aspect, when you are on the online platform there is an aboriginal acknowledgement at the bottom of every page. There is also a new module about aboriginal culture, they made this module mandatory, if you want an exemption you have to go through the local aboriginal institute which will deny your application. I don't acknowledge aboriginals I never have and never will. Therefore this module makes studying at the university I previously graduated from, impossible.

This is also a mandatory module about respectful sex written by a person who has obviously never had sex in their life.

The degrees they give out aren't worth anything I applied to over 1000 jobs and never got a job with the degree and had to switch careers.

I'm an Australian citizen so if you are an international student it will be 100x harder to get a job, save your parents the money and choose somewhere else.

Recently I was privy to an email & the signature block included preferred pronouns after the employee’s name, as well as a diatribe about aboriginal land acknowledgement. Clearly THIS university is a highly politicised institution & not fit for anyone seeking an apolitical education. By all means, keep your preferred pronouns and political placations and watch the Bud light effect…

Such a great University. There are a few bus stops, large carparks. Easy interactive maps at every entrance. Coffee shops, lecture halls, tutorial rooms, and dormitories. There are weekly events and many undergrad courses to choos from. You can even do open foundation as a pathway to university learning!

The quality of courses varied significantly. In the beginning of the degree, 1st & 2nd year, the courses were decently high quality, some were fantastic. However, as I progressed through the course, some of the major mandatory courses throughout the end of degree were so poorly delivered that made me regret even going to university at all. There were occasions where a course coordinator did not even know their own due dates or assessments that they had set. They disseminated conflicting information across different communication mediums and failed to rectify them throughout the courses. It felt like the courses were just a side-gig more than the primary focus for some coordinators.

The quality became so low that I considered discontinuing the degree I had worked really hard to get into, sustain high grades, and had a lot of interest in the content of. I tried seeking other universities to complete the remainder of the degree with, but the university system discourages student choice in this regard by mismatching course codes which means you must redo half of your degree if you want to swap universities in search of higher quality.

If I could go back to before enrolling knowing how low-quality the latter half of my degree would be, I would not have enrolled at the University of Newcastle. The complaints process is also pretty much pointless, you'd probably be better off writing your complaint and including all of your evidence on a piece of paper and then burning it.

In hindsight, I would not recommend the University of Newcastle if you care about your education. It might be worthwhile if you just want to get a degree for employment purposes and live locally. A good example of this is when I was told by my lecturer after informing them that the course was delivered very poorly, "Oh well, you just have to get a pass anyway". Sadly, the latter half of this degree has left me feeling more robbed than educated.

The campuses are nice, most staff are friendly and approachable. Unfortunately, the course quality leaves a lot to be desired.

They dont care about international students or of wasting few years of a students life. They end up rejecting the visa saying that the student should have been enrolled in a course in the home country as well whilst applying for university of newcastle. I mean why the *would someone apply for universities abroad and at the same time be enrolled in their own country
They ask. Student to appear for an online orientation and mention that if the visa doesnt get approved before the start date, they would defer the coe then They keep students waiting for another few months before rejecting for no reason. So make sure you know where you are applying for. Dont waste your time, effort and money on worthless universities. There are dozens of them in australia.
