Dad is in the hostel/ low care. He calls it "quaint" in the real meaning of the term. He is well looked after, however he finds that each staff member does things their own way, which can confuse his "routine" for the day. There are many residents compared to some other places we visited, which I think gives him more chance to find someone he likes to make friends with. The place is not renovated and the rooms are small, however then the bond is cheaper. They will be building a new hostel on the same property in years to come. I find most of the staff really nice, and the one who isn't tries to be, she just thinks that she knows best for everyone and is bossy. I really do think that they have the residents' interests at heart. Oh and the food - I haven't heard many complaints recently, however Dad used to often complain about it saying it was "bland" and whatever spices (not hot) they used made his nose run. I think the food quality is on and off. I have eaten a meal there and it was salty but otherwise okay.

The Uniting retirement villages (Westmead and Bowden Brae )have gym facilty but charge residents who use it. the fee is about the same price as normal gym. It only open half day if there is not enough people sign up. No one allows to enter the gym or use the equipment when it is not open.

We would like to thank the staff at Bowden Brae Uniting especially Sanartha and Suzannah for having Home Instead Hornsby Hills office to share the Christmas Spirit with the residents with our "Be A Santa to A Senior" project for Christmas, Getting primary school students to colour in a picture or draw a picture of their choice and write a personalised message to a senior, This was the highlight of my day, seeing the faces of happiness and tears of joy, This is what Christmas is all about is making another person happy.
