We loved our first family stay at Turon! We originally wanted to book a river cabin but ended up choosing to stay in the Serenity cabin and it felt like we had the mountains all the ourselves!! It was so serene, so much wildlife surrounding us and absolutely stunning views with no one else in sight. I loved how you can explore the acreages freely. Our 4yo son loved his experience in nature!

We did the short drive down into the valley during the day and hired a canoe/swam in the beautiful river. The managers were so lovely and willing to help with whatever questions we had.

We will definitely be back!

- Please note this review relates only to the camping at Turon Gates. Most of the positive reviews here relate to the cabins, which we had no experience of.

Unfortunately no effort has been made in relation to the set up of campsites at Turon Gates. This is particularly disappointing given the context of them charging $68/night and imposing a 3 night minimum.

Camping seems to have been an afterthought to the cabins business.

- The campsite is just a horse paddock, which horses still occupy. Complete with piles of poo.

- The only amenities are at one extreme end of the campsite, for us this meant they were more than 1km from our site.

- No effort has been made to ensure that trees have been made safe, with most sites being underneath dangerous branches. Many campers were set up under dangerous overhanging branches.

- No effort has been made to ensure decent tent pads. Weeds are rife throughout the site.

We had a nice time, but only because we are experienced wild campers - which this essentially was (for a hefty price)

I am an outdoor education professional of over 20 years, I camp over 80 nights per year and assessing campsites for safety and usability is a significant part of my professional life.
It is my strong recommendation that the owners either invest some time and effort in making a safe and amenable campsite, or to cease offering camping.

We had an amazing two-night stay at Turan Gate Cabins with a group of friends, and we enjoyed every moment! We booked two beautiful cabins, each with a cozy, well-maintained interior and stunning views. The customer service was outstanding. When one of our friend's cars broke down, the staff went above and beyond to help. They assisted in getting the car to the cabins, called for a repair service, and even arranged for someone to pick the car up. They also gave us rides, ensuring we felt comfortable and secure the entire time. Thanks to their kindness, we were still able to fully enjoy our stay. The kayaking was fantastic, with breathtaking scenery, and for nature lovers, there are opportunities to see kangaroos, cows, birds, and goats nearby. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with amazing support!

Turon gates is your own slice of remote heaven with no reception or noise you can fully check out and relax. Wild horses everywhere make the stay even more enjoyable and knowing it’s a family run business makes me what to come back and support! Alex the owner was so accommodating when it was too windy to camp and it solidified my decision to pick here over any other location again. Highly recommend.

Very nice camping ground in beautiful rural location. We did a local hike "devil's climb" (11.5 km) saw Lyre birds, 2 red bellied black snakes and a lot of different birds. Very nice trail and surroundings. Clean and good amenities, large campground
We arrived during the weekdays, had the place alone except 20 Kangaroos, couple of wombats and 1 horse.

Beautiful camping spot. Great for first time campers as it has great bathrooms/showers, drinking water and the campsite is easy to drive to and from. I was initially nervous about the roads however they were fine for our 2WD.

Turon Gates is nature at its finest! 🌿

The peaceful river, stunning valley surrounded by beautiful mountains and wandering ponies and horses made this campground feels like a dream.

Birds, geese and ducks kept me company during the day, and with no Internet, it was a perfect digital detox. At night I was lucky enough to witness the Milky Way and thousands of stars lighting up the sky. ✨

Perks:

🪸The newly renovated facilities were a real treat, and if you’re in the mood for a bit of luxury, the glamping options are definitely worth it! (Hope they can add more toilets/shower in the future)

🪸Canoeing along the beautiful river was a highlight for us, and we can’t wait to try trout fishing from October to June.

🪸The campground also offers pony rides and horse riding for those who want to explore on horseback.

🪸It's a pet-friendly campground, making it a great spot for families with furry friends.

🪸Whether you’re looking for adventure or just some relaxation in nature, Turon Gates has it all!

What a fantastic weekend! The location is beautiful with so much to do and see.
Michael and Alex were amazing - the cabin we booked had an issue with the power, which they attended to immediately, which was all the more impressive as it was after 5pm on a Friday!

Alex also gave us some tips on walks we could go with our dog, who had the time of his life!

We can’t wait to go back again.
