Laughed until my jaw hurt of the failed attempts to do the head twist surprise move. Feel like I'm in the process of uncovering my inner fool and can't wait to play more with them! I bragged about it to my friends and one is already asking Alicia to join. Don't miss this opportunity, it often gets sold out! It's therapy for adults, but you mostly laugh through the process. I absolutely adore the clown institute. Ive been going for the past 4 months (final Saturday of each month) and love it!

I have a background in improv and sketch comedy. I went through a long phase where I got so focused on ‘getting it right’ and trying to always be a really strong performer that I often got in my own way and got stuck in my head. I wanted to try clowning bc I heard it was very physical and you were catapulted into the present, into your body. That plus I just thought it would be really fun.

And it is!

Everyone who attends is really lovely. Sometimes comedy/art scenes can be quite cliquey and exclusive or competitive - not at all the vibe of the clown institute. Everyone is really friendly and supportive and fun to play with.

Alicia is such an amazing instructor. You can tell she has a really strong background in clowning (she knows her shit) and what’s really special is how she makes us all feel so safe. Clown instructors have a reputation for being quite hard on students, but Alicia makes the experience really exciting and accessible. She has a really open heart and mind. Everyone is welcome. Always. She’s also really really funny, so just watching her explain an idea is a fabulous show.

If you’re looking to connect with your inner child, remember how liberating it is to play and to be seen and loved, to feel alive and connected to others, this is for you. It’s honestly the best. Best part of my week and I look forward to every class.

I attended a weekend intensive with The Clown Institute - facilitated by Alicia. It was absolutely wonderful. Finding it hard to describe how blown away I was. Alicia's work is so incredibly skillful and insightful. She created a very safe space which enabled us all to connect from within and with each other - in a meaningful and profound way. There was enough of a stretch for me to experience growth whilst feeling supported at the same time. I have trained professionally as a performer and have experienced many teachers. Alicia would be up there as one of the best I have ever encountered. I went into the program to explore a deeper connection with vulnerability and to re-find my 'inner-fool'. This is tough work to do even for accomplished performers - and yet Alicia facilitated this process beautifully enabling all of us to travel inward and discover the joy of expressing this inner-fool. The idea of inner-fool is a place of freedom and of joy - it is a place where our truer self resides, free of judgement and bias - a place where we can truly express ourselves to others in order to bring smiles and laughter. I booked into one of these workshops on a whim thinking that it might be fun. What I experienced well surpassed that. Alicia is a remarkable facilitator and teacher; she's knowledgeable, funny, patient and incredibly incisive. I felt completely opened up, in a good way, and rode the high for days afterwards.
