Best experience I've ever had at a gym.

In all honesty I was pretty intimated being a newcomer at what is arguably the highest level gym in the country. But if you can get over the fact, as an intermediate, that even the white belts here are going to pose some very significant competition - I'd argue there's nowhere better to be training at.

There is definitely a strongly established culture in the gym which, if you're coming from more classical jiu-jitsu school, might take a bit of getting used to (and might not be for a small percentage of people). For myself I found it largely positive, enjoyed the regular banter and found a lot of the more progressive aspects of training methodology extremely refreshing.

The absence of monotonous warm-ups, the detailed but succinct instruction, the open Q&As at the end of each session, the staunch dedication to keeping up with the cutting-edge of the competitive meta. All of these things have a good chance of making a return to more orthodox schools seem frankly archaic.

All coaches (including high-level competitors) in my first classes with them made a point to roll-with me and allowed for constructive rounds (when they more than had the ability to utterly dominate me).

If you're in the area - you'd be crazy not to train here. And if you're not in the area - you should still drop in now and then because 1 lesson at SWMA genuinely feels like 2-3 lessons worth of takeaways at other gyms.

Dropped in on a Thursday evening class with Coach Luke. Very impressed with the level of detail in his instruction and making advanced techniques very accessible. Great atmosphere, and lots of very high level jiu jitsu partners. For anyone lucky enough to be living in Sydney that wants to train jiu jitsu, this place is a no brainer.

Came to a free trial without notifying Luke at all, he was beyond welcoming, the people training are welcoming and very supportive, the skill of the room is amazing.

Anyone thinking about it, I’d say the environment Luke has created is worth travelling for.

Went over on my travels and definitely didn’t disappoint easily best gym anywhere over Sydney side - the amount of high level and experience is insane and definitely a must if in the Sydney area and wanting to develop your game

Absolutely loved the classes i attended.
Luke is a weapon and explaining techniques and you can see and feel it when you roll with anyone of his students

Why do use avoid letting us know the cost, wonder how many people never make a class cause of it. Imagine trying and liking something you can't afford.

Absolutely blown away by this gym from the facilities, it has an incredible mat space , to the staff who are super welcoming and positive aswell as the members of the gym. The room is such a high level of skill unbelievable experience today loved every second of it.

I've come on a WHV and was really struggling settling in and these guys just made me feel like home and I can't thank them enough.
