Strata Community Association NSW does not represent owners, only strata professional organisations ( Should be Strata Professional Association) as strata owners can only subscribe for a news letter! (FYI, I have been subscribed since June 24 and have not received any updates)
There is no strata owner representation on the board.
I would be careful of their advise and template contracts, as they are not written for the benefit of strata owners.
The complaints section is a joke. After 8 months of investigation, they said that there was not enough evidence of breaches of their standards. (SCA never asked questions or for additional evidence). I even had the NCAT senior member's findings say that:
"The evidence adduced by OSP79749 (Sydney Strata) was unsatisfactory as to the tendering processes that led to the E____ Constructions contract and its variation. There was inadequate evidence as to the identity of the tenderers and the tenderprices.”
“I do not accept the oral evidence of Mr Williamson that he received permission from SCIA to use the SClA interim payment for expenses other than rebuilding”
“I was not not impressed by the knowledge of Mr Williamson of the SSM Act of SSS and legal principles underlying the proper management of a strata scheme.”
All clear breaches of the SCA code of conduct for a strata manager.
I was advised by 2 strata lawyers and a respected strata manager that it is a waste of time complaining to the SCA and they were right.

SCA continue to work towards raising the professional standards of the Strata Community and Industry in NSW. Those who live and work in Strata are on the receiving end of their tireless hard work. They are our voice within government when legislation matters arise and can be trusted to have our interests at heart. They are a great benefit to our NSW state and overall Strata communities.

💣💥 It's time to consider rebranding your organization as the "Strata Agency Association"(perhaps as "SAA - Sick A'hole Association"). After all, you folks seem to excel at draining Australian lot owners dry with sky-high strata levies in exchange for minimal service and poorly maintained buildings. The SCA is nothing but wolves🐺 in sheep's🐑 clothing, deceiving the strata scheme owners community and inflicting significant economic harm on lot owners. Truly disgraceful!!

The heart of the issue lies in the misconduct of strata administrators, shielded by the cozy blanket of the standard Strata Management Agreement endorsed by the Strata Community Association NSW. This agreement essentially grants strata managers immunity for any wrongdoing, except in the most extreme cases. A poorly behaved strata administrator could practically commit crimes and still walk away unscathed, all while the "strata plan/owners corporation" they oversee continue to line their fat pockets. It's the law of the jungle out here! 🤬🤬

SCA (NSW) provides an excellent service to members and through its engagement with industry members, provides an informed voice to government. Through these interactions it has lead to an improved environment in strata living for apartment owners and occupiers in NSW.
Furthermore, SCA (NSW) has and continues to work to promote and educate the professional standards with the Strata industry for NSW.
