My daughter Jade goes to this art school every Wednesday afternoon, she absolutely loves going there, and I am impressed with all the art work she brought home! Have to say I have been looking for local art school for her for quite some time, this is definitely a great find. Location is good, the classroom is airy and spacious, the teacher (Viv) is fantastic, and the program is very interesting.

We have been coming for a couple years and Vivienne has been absolutely amazing, creating a space for kids to allow their imagination to express itself through art. Vivienne not only works with drawing and painting but also clay sculptures and very creative processes: this week the kids are creating a wearable cat mask based on ancient Egypt. How cool is that?!
She teaches various techniques that the kids keep with them as part of their skill set. At start art school the children are able to express their inspirations around a theme, which means everyone can create a piece that is unique to their preferences.

What a wonderful kids art school. This primary school age children's art school has amazing teachers (especially Vivienne, Lia & Madi) whose sole focus is on the kids. The location is perfect for us, as my kids can walk to the studio from home, and is a 2 minute drive from our home in Willoughby. My 5 year old has just started Friday morning classes. My son goes on Saturday afternoons after soccer. The holiday art programs are great too. My kids love Start Art School and is by far the highlight of their week. So happy we found Start Kids Art School especially as they only cater for primary school children.
UPDATE July 2023:
I reckon this is one of the best primary school kids art schools on the North Shore.
What my kids enjoy most about Start is that the teachers say there is no right or wrong way to do art and that they are given free will to express themselves...my one child always believed he wasn't "good" at art, and now after a year has some much confidence in what he doing.
UPDATE JUNE 2024:
Just tried booking the kids into their winter holiday program which was posted up 2 days ago and there already some classes that are full. So GET IN EARLY to avoid missing out as their holiday classes sell out fast especially the Polymer Clay ones. The day program is great for us as the kids are taken to the park for lunch and is still good value for money and MUCH cheaper than hiring a nanny to look after the kids.

We were recommended Start Art School from a fellow Willoughby Primary School parent. We first enrolled our kids into their end of year holiday program in 2022. It was great because the kids could do a full day with supervised lunch in the local park, as both my wife and I work. The standard of art tuition is exceptional and the kids have learnt a great deal about art and they always come home with great artworks. We managed to get both kids into their Saturday term class. Viv and Maddy are both excellent teachers, they are engaged with the kids and this is not your average art school where all they do is paint or draw... hey cover all art mediums. We had tried a number of art schools in the area and were disappointed, but Start Art School are hands down in a different league. The kids love going to art and it shows in the wonderful artworks they bring home. Also, the quality of the art materials they use are top notch...no inferior canvas used!!! I wholeheartedly recommend Start Art.

We love it here! A great place for kids to do art and they are encouraged to express their own creativity. We go throughout and the term and often do school holidays programs as the kids just love it so much. Vivi is a fantastic teacher. Thanks guys!

Absolutely the best art school. We drive there despite being closer to other art classes. The children get to express themselves with their art and they learn great unique art techniques and skills.
