My son has been attending Smarties for 3 years, and I cannot recommend Gilly highly enough.
Before we joined Smarties he was really struggling with his English and had fallen way behind.
After seeing Gilly once a week over these last 3 years his reading, writing, spelling and comprehension have greatly improved, and this has given him so much more self-confidence at school.
He looks forward to every session with Gilly as she makes the lessons fun and engaging. I love going in at the end of every session to discuss what they had covered, and it always amazes me how much they get through! He now feels prepared and ready for high school next year.

My son started at Smarties at the start of 2024 after The school asked for learning support, as has inattentive ADHD and his inability to concentrate in the classroom ment he had slipped behind some 1.5 to 2 years of his age appropriate learning. We have tried other interventions, with not huge success, and our hope was That he would hopefully be able to maintain the gap to his peers and learn at the same pace as them and not drop back further. It’s now the end of the 2024 school year and he just received an excellence award for the most improved student in primary. His testing and markers now show he is reading, writing, literacy and maths are all now back at age appropriate for a 10-year-old meaning he has closed the gap to his peers in 12 months. Not to discredit the hard work my son has put in but I attribute a good 80% of this gains directly to Gilly, who has my son for two hours a week of tutoring in those areas specifically. She gives him one on one tailored learning that is relatable and Understandable for my son‘s unique brain and learning style. This has a compound effect as it’s given him so much more confidence that he is not dumb, He has his own brilliance, and when he applies himself sees amazing results. I can’t recommend Smarties enough and Gilly especially. We will be continuing into 2025 so he can make even more gains and future proof he’s learning difficulties And turn them into strengths.
