This organisation has been the best thing that ever happened to my son.He loves every adventure and has grown significantly into an amazing young man through the love and support he has been given. He continues to fulfil his dreams ,with continuing his journey with Operation Flinders, now helping other young people. It is an incredible organisation which I can only speak highly of and thank enormously.

In about 1985 my son was put on Operation Flinders. There were some pretty tough older boys also in this activity. My son was a quiet, autistic 14 year old. The older boys stole cigarettes from the leader and about 4 older boys told the leader it was my son. My son was not believed by the leader. I got a call from the leaders telling me my son stole and he would be removed from the camp. After this camp was finished it was discovered that it was not my son who stole. Due to his autism this affected him very severely. Back in the 80s this was not a safe positive experience and instead it was a very negative for my son and affected him for a long time. Autistic kids, who can appear different and easily intimidated tend to be bullied.

Told my kid basicly that he was worthless and shouldn't speak to adults. He came back depressed and feeling like he shouldn't talk to anyone
Not happy I bet the "councillors" don't even have their own children
You are ment to help kids not make them feel worthless
I'll be following your "organization" very carefully and checking one your track record to what has happened to the kids after your "camps" that you have supposedly "HELPED"
And what sort of training and screening process your "councillors" have to go through before they are set lose on kids to mess with their heads

This is a special group of people willing to give their time to the difficult tasks of attending to some of the youths most vulnerable souls and help build them into survivors who manage in a team rather than street rats being dragged up by their environment
