They supposedly have high standards but they have limited services. They encourage you to help yourself when it comes to housecleaning but I would prefer a service provider that does everything I want with no conditions, including the carer doing the housekeeping whether I help or not.
Whatever you do, don't get the carer Michael (Mick) he'll betray your confidentiality and report back to the boss Mark with it. I asked him was it alright if I watch a certain something in his presence and he many times replied that it was OK. Then he told the boss who said that it wasn't. As far as I am concerned, he betrayed my trust and was a traitor.He doesn't deserve to be a carer and told me he is just in it for the money. Don't go with Wollongong Northcott. They are really not that friendly the staff in regards to their so called high standards. I left them and rightly so wouldn't trust any of their other carers either.

I have really enjoyed my time at Northcott the staff and support workers are really caring and hardworking.

I have been doing my part to help out where I can I have learnt and done so many things that I won't have done in the past and pushed myself to new limts.

My first impression of this organisation came after a very, very bad experience with another one. In comparison, Northcott was very professional and structured. I initially cut some slack for staff that happened to ignore a handful of my requests for support, but as time went on, it became a big problem.

A few ignored emails and requests for support ended up having a big toll on my quality of life. I've had to cancel appointments a few times over because I couldnt attend without my ignored requested support. There are also very important legal tasks I've needed done for months that just haven't been followed up on. As an organisation that I trust to help me in a very vulnerable position, ignoring me or brushing me off multiple times is inexcusable.

I've also had had a few small issues with the conduct of other staff or clients in the past. Northcott had assured me that they would take action about it, but I was never actually given any evidence that anything was done.

One afternoon, a staff member came into the SLES training room and made a joke with the worker in the room of a sexual nature about underage girls. I was infuriated, and instantly sent an email to the coordinator of SLES to say that this is a completely out of line joke to make in a room of vulnerable people, and I demanded to be shown that something will be done about my complaint this time. This was especially important as the male clients of this program were particularly inappropriate during sessions in a way that made others uncomfortable, just to receive no more repercussion than being told to "act mature, guys".

Anyway, the next time I saw the coordinator, she completely shut down my concerns, saying that there was no evidence that the staff had said what I reported. There was an ENTIRE ROOM of clients, as well as ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER that she could've so easily checked with. Of course, I wasnt given any evidence that anything was done about this, let alone any indication that they even wanted to.

Along with this, just the general tone of some staff members has felt extremely dismissive. One time, I started to have a panic attack in a very stressful situation. The staff member I was with said to another person "it's the autism kicking in". What the hell? How can you have worked with autistic people for this long just to spit some garbage like this? I was really unsettled by that comment. I was hoping she would tell me she wasnt serious but she never followed up from that comment.

Ultimately, Northcott has really solidified the idea that these industries who work with vulnerable people are most likely going to be full of staff who have awful power & control issues. Sexual assault jokes, ignored requests for support, brushing off serious complaints of misconduct, and being dismissive & ignorant to clients is completely, wholly disgusting and inexcusable - even if it has only happened a few times. I have shown that I'm very serious about needing them to listen, but they simply didn't. Why should I trust that they could improve after that? I would absolutely hate to see how they would handle potential issues heavier than this if these ones can't even be handled in the slightest.

I'm very dissatisfied and hurt from my experience here.
