An interesting place to say the least. Plenty of maps, directions and information by friendly knowledgeable staff. A good place to stop on the New England highway as a break for you and the kids. There is a park with playground equipment, BBQs and toilets. A cafe next door will provide you with plenty to eat. There is plenty of parking, wheelchair access and disabled parking outside.

The Gate Cafe

This is our second visit since the new owners took over - our first experience was excellent, and returned to check it wasn't a fluke.

It wasn't ....... this cafe is as good as it gets on the New England Highway between Sydney and Brisbane.

We again had the Eggs Benedict & The Gate Big Breakfast and both were sensational, with great coffees - the quality and value is the best.

Nice stop on the way to Tamworth with two technical curiosities on display: one of the earliest Australian made combine harvester and a 1910 station railroad trike.

Excellent place for some tourism information and maps. Have an impressive display on the artwork on the Quirindi wheat silos. Also souvenirs and knick na ks for sale. A display of farming equipment is also interesting. Plus there is good place next door for food and Coffee.

I didn't even realise that this was a place I could review until I came back home. I've actually stopped here a couple of times, and since I've been back a few times I guess it can;t be too bad. There's sime interesting noticeboards here about national parks in the area, and the toilets are always kept clean. If I'd known I could review this place, I might have taken a couple of photos.
