Today was my 3rd time coming to Kyue and I’ve held off on leaving a review to once I’ve tried as many dishes as possible! I’ve come each time with different groups of people (parents and friends) and with everyone I’ve come we’ve always enjoyed our experience at Kyue! The food has been impeccable (taste and presentation wise) and all the workers have been so friendly and welcoming (remembering me from my many visits šŸ˜†). It definitely does get busy (no wonder since it’s a great restaurant) and despite how hectic it could get the restaurant doesn’t feel overcrowded or too loud either.

I would definitely recommend booking ahead of going to Kyue as it seems quite difficult to go as a walk in (worth the wait in my opinion..but I personally don’t like waiting myself so I would much rather just book ahead!)

Overall a pleasant restaurant to go if you’d like to try something a bit special for a Japanese restaurant!

I visited this newly opened Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurant for dinner, hoping for a great experience. While I appreciated the thick cut of the pork, I found it excessively greasy, to the point that some fatty parts were inedible. On the bright side, the cabbage salad with sesame dressing was quite enjoyable. The staff were not unfriendly, but they didn’t leave a particularly warm impression either.

Overall, it was a somewhat underwhelming experience, perhaps due to my high expectations.

I had been looking forward to visiting this place because it’s known for its tonkatsu. The variety in the set menu was impressive, offering plenty of different items to enjoy, and the taste didn’t disappoint. The portions were generous, so I ended up feeling very full. The staff were friendly and responded quickly, which made the experience even more satisfying.

Tip: Since this place is very popular, you might have to wait a long time if you don’t make a reservation in advance. I recommend booking ahead.

Their signature Gyukatsu meal is a must-try—perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside, and full of flavor. The unlimited salad refill is a great bonus, making the meal even more enjoyable.

The tempura was another highlight—beautifully crispy yet light, never greasy. Everything was cooked to perfection!

Great food, excellent quality, and a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend for anyone who loves authentic Japanese flavors!

The tempura donburi was exceptional! The tempura had a light batter and kept crunchy. I personally liked the pork katsu more than the beef, but both really juicy and the sauces were delicious.
Only issue we had was the bowl of white rice was really wet and clumped.
Other than that, service was prompt and food prices were reasonable.

All the hype was worth the visit. Ate here for lunch, booked earlier in the week (this is a must do or prepare to wait up to 90 min for a table) and was very impressed with the quality of food served.

The Wagyu Katsu slapped. Incredibly tender, medium rare and honestly just perfection.

Service was attentive but not overwhelming. Prime location with rubbish parking options.

Factor that into your trip.

Will most definitely be returning.

I visited this restaurant on a weekday around 6:30 PM and saw a long queue at the entrance. We were a party of two and waited about 30 minutes. During this time, I noticed some issues with the service.

There were three staff members handling tasks like managing the waiting list, taking orders, serving food, and clearing tables. However, their roles weren’t clearly divided, which caused delays. At one point, one staff member left for another area, another was busy taking orders, and the third was clearing tables. Meanwhile, ready-to-serve dishes sat there for 3–5 minutes before being delivered. This slowed down table turnover, making both seated customers and those waiting outside wait longer. It seemed like three staff members weren’t enough to manage everything.

As for the food, I had high expectations based on reviews and pictures. I used to love a tonkatsu place called Chidori in Crows Nest, so I was hoping this would be just as good. However, I was disappointed. The pork cutlet was overcooked and dry, possibly because it had been left sitting for too long after cooking.in addition I find it was a bit greasy

We also ordered a sushi dish. The fish was okay, but the rice was really bad—it was cold, hard, and too dense. I ended up just wanting to eat the fish on top and skip the rice

Very delicious local joint. Juicy, crispy katsu that comes with an array of sauces to tempt you. The slaw is fresh and you can dress it yourself with ponzu and sesame sauce. The sushi was yummy, can’t flaw it. Staff are observant and quick. Very enjoyable and highly recommend. Value for money for sure!
