I have had the privilege of training with Hanshi Lipman for the past 15 years, after many years of karate practice in different countries. His commitment to the dojo and his students is admirable. For him, it’s all about helping junior and senior students build both strong technique and spirit, and be the best they can be. He has managed to create an environment that promotes camaraderie, friendship and respect while maintaining the discipline of karate. Training is focused and full of energy, but fun. Also, the dojo has strong traditional Japanese connections. Highly recommend this dojo to everyone, no matter your age.

Alright, I won't go through details of how well the staff work with children at this Dojo. Neither will I try to explain the difference between martial arts and other sports, go ahead and read the Internet on what makes the Karate. But what I will highlight in my review is the fact that my 9yo son repeats the moves and punches, stances and kicks at home all the time. He is engaged. He is dedicated. He likes the lessons. He likes the sensei's. He is confident and is ready to defend self should need be. What else a parent may want?

KIMAA Turramurra dojo is a long term established dojo above the TAB in Turramurra. Hanshi Howard Lipman operates the dojo up to five times a week and trains students ranging from senior blackbelts, to Knox School students, to younger children, some as young as four.

Hanshi has committed his life to Kyokushin Karate. He has instructed for over 40 years and creates an environment in which all who have the dedication will flourish into accomplished Kyokushin practitioners.

The KIMAA dojo maintains a friendly atmosphere while ensuring the training tempers the mind, body and spirit in accordance with Karate principles. Testament to the success of this dojo is the longevity of its students, several having trained with Hanshi for over 20 years.

Kyokushin Karate is renowned for being "the strongest karate", and so the training may appear hard and at times difficult to the outside observer. However maintaining the principles of its founder, Sosai Mas Oyama, are paramount to Hanshi. Under these principles of tempering the spirit through rigorous training, KIMAA seek to create an environment where its students can develop and thrive.

KIMAA also have numerous other affiliated dojos within NSW and QLD which form the KIMAA group. All of these dojos maintain the principles of Kyokushin, and are instructed by extremely capable senior blackbelts. The KIMAA family are very close, and our practitioners from our various dojos train together regularly thorughout the year at senior gradings, seminars and events.

I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in a place to train, whether they have experience in other styles or not, to come up for a free trial class or to have a look. You will not get a better place to develop and refine your martial skills while training with other like minded experienced martial artists.
