Mr. Jack Spence is without a doubt the greatest teacher in the history of Epping Boys High School. For an entire year, he didn’t just teach—he carried the Learning Support Department on his back. His dedication to his students was unmatched, and he made a huge difference in the lives of so many.

What set Mr. Spence apart was his ability to connect with students in a way that few teachers can. He went above and beyond to ensure everyone was supported, no matter what challenges they faced. His patience, understanding, and commitment to each individual were beyond anything we could’ve asked for. He made sure no one felt left behind and always created an environment where students could thrive and reach their potential.

He wasn’t just there to teach the curriculum; he was there to change lives. His classroom was a safe space for students to learn and grow, and his ability to inspire confidence in even the most hesitant learners was incredible. Every student who had the privilege of being in his class walked away with a better sense of their own abilities and potential, thanks to his constant encouragement and belief in them.

For that one year, Mr. Spence was the backbone of the Learning Support Department, and it’s clear that his impact will be felt for years to come. Simply put, he was the best teacher ever, and his legacy at Epping Boys will never be forgotten. We’re all grateful for the difference he made in our lives, and he will always be remembered as a true hero in the school’s history.

And I hope Mr. Spence enjoys his time at the after-school care debacle! I was there 8 years ago, and honestly, it was the best time. Huge props to Kirsty and Natalie for making it such an amazing experience for all the kids. It’s clear he’ll continue to make an impact wherever he goes!

My son is starting Kindy this year and Unfortunately not happy that I am not able to send my son here for 5 days since both myself and my husband are working full time. They are full no matter how early you applied. Was told only in December about this and leaving me in a very stressful situation. Future parents, please set your expectations right, if you are sending your kids to Denistone East Public School, be prepared that you may not be able to get a spot in the after school care here on the days that you need.

The enrolment process is very old school, they have an EOI form on their website but don’t bother filling in that form because it meant nothing. I submitted the EOI a year ago but was told that they will send me the enrolment form in November via snail mail and I need to complete the form asap as it will be timestamped. Little did I know that the forms are also available to be completed on orientation day, which I was not informed about it. By the time I received the enrolment form via snail mail, heaps of people have probably already submitted the form before me which put me on a longer waitlist. Very frustrating as unlike long daycare we do not have any options to attend other after school care centre. The system failed working parents, very disappointed!

Staff are always friendly and are great with children. Wonderful facilities and activities organised. Thumbs up from the kids for the delicious meals provided also.
