Is humongous the right word to describe the sheer size of this library? The amenities are great with a variety of seating spaces and configurations at different areas of the library. They have various small conference and study rooms available for hire or special complimentary use, plus regular workshops on a variety of topics and genre. I’ve attended quite a number like art and craft, group activities and talks. I organised a small successful art exhibition in one of the rooms. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. Really good for study, research and just relaxed reading, although some young groups couldn’t keep their voices down. Hopefully the staff would remind them it’s still a library and not a chat room.

One of the best libraries in Sydney. The architect did a great job bringing in the natural light to the library in the basement level and added the water feature to soften the concrete modern building. In the evening the library was full of high school students studying and there was some photography lighting class going on. This library looked like it is being used to its fullest potential when others are closing down in this time and age of digital era.

What a huge library! I was very excited by the sheer size of it. I have only visited once, so cannot comment too much, but the building itself is lovely. A great local history section too, and the librarians were lovely.

not really a library guy but i do come here sometimes to tutor kids or just study

not a huge fan of the legions of kids that come here during certain hours but when it’s empty it’s quite nice

it’s a shame that the meeting rooms need booking otherwise i think it would be good at clearing away some of the kids

all in all i think it’s fine but i wished it was more peaceful sometimes hahaha

I am studying at my own laptop - and am grateful for the spacious benches with power.
Yet, a tutor sits opposite, tutoring a schoolgirl in economics. They sit 1.5m apart. Although I have bi-lateral hearing loss, I hear his every word.

Are commercial enterprises allowed here?
As an aspirant photographer, ought I start hustling to take paid portraits of people within the confines of Chatswood library? Such a notion couldn't be any more disruptive, really.

I was having a rest from studying and they woke me up.
So many seats were open and i understand there can be cases where you dont want people to sleep but i was clearly a student

Great library, having a lot of various types of books, spacious space for study and reading. There is a zone for children

However, due to covid19, their opening is irregular. You must check trading hours before a visit.
