Canteen is vegeterian which is really bad and they’re strict on uniform and just in general, it sucks dont go to Avonjail!

I went here back in the 80's and it was a very strict school then, where the cane was in place and used if there were naughty students who flouted the schools rules. Funnily enough, the headmasters name was Mr Kracknell, a rather fitting name......for someone who would give naughty students quite a few 'cracks' across the knuckles! Although it was strict then, I loved going there because it was a great school. There was no bullying then because of the cane and fear of you getting it! I had some fantastic teachers though: Mrs Thomson, my Kindergarten teacher. She was wonderful and would give each student a Blackberry Juice Ice Cube she'd make at home and bring in on hot days! There was once I was waiting for class and the wind blew the heavy solid door shut on my little finger and nearly chopped it clean off! Mrs Thomson called my dad and he came to get me to take me to the local doctor and get it sewn back on. After a few days off school, Mrs Thomson actually visited me at our house in Currans Rd (the block of flats that got burnt to the ground back in 1980/81. We actually lost everything we owned in that fire, except for our lives and the clothes we had on...all because of the lady next door falling asleep with a cigarette). I was amazed! She popped in to give me a present and to say to my parents, "He didn't even cry! Not even once!" But yeah....she was an amazing teacher! Year 2, I had Mrs Baldwin. She was an amazing teacher......young looking....but brilliant! Year 4, I had Mr Charleston. He was a good teacher and would teach music at times. I loved music and playing the instruments then! For some reason, I'd always hum in his class! 😂😂 Back then, the airport was actually in use and when in high school, you were given the chance to go for your pilots license through the school! I never went to high school here because it became way to expensive for my dad to send us all. Instead, my sister attended Morisset High School, whilst me and my brothers attended Cooranbong Public School. I was put into a composite class: Year 5/Year 6. It was a massive change for us because we went from being in a highly strict school that had you wear pretty much a suit with bow tie, to just a simple school uniform. But anyway....continuing on...the airport now sits dormant and closed. Shame really..... All in all, I enjoyed my time at this school!

At the end of term1 2018 my school went to Myuna Bay for an excursion, we encountered Avandale Private school.
The students were very wild and one of them threw a soccer ball at my friend’s head. The Avandale teacher in charge pretended not to see, even when the Avandale students were shouting at us and claiming that we were bad at soccer because we couldn’t dodge a soccer ball. I personally don’t think they could dodge a soccer ball from behind either! They were bullying us for being a public school. I would have given a -5 stars if I could!

One time they locked me in a room for 4 hours till it was time to go home because I wore the wrong socks even though I had a note and explanation! THEY WERE IN THE WASH
