I would not recommend this company.

Upon receiving a brochure with a quotation from Austlift, the tail lift was depicted in space grey color. Consequently, I contacted the sales manager to request the space grey as shown in the brochure, and he confirmed this choice. However, I received a silver tail lift instead. Fortunately, they encountered some installation issues, and the lift couldn't be installed. When I went to retrieve my van for use, I discovered that the color did not match the space grey, and it appeared they were attempting to install a refurbished or used unit. To substantiate my complaint, I promptly took photos and forwarded them to the sales manager. The condition of the unit was evident in the photos, showing it was not new. I had also attached these photos before the installation. When I raised the color issue with the salesperson,

Austlift claimed not to have the space grey color available, yet they continued to advertise it.

Austlift failed to inform me that certain parts, including the tires, needed to be removed from the bottom of the van. These parts were necessary for towing in the event of an accident.

Furthermore, they did not mention that the installation of the lift would require cutting the sensor and rear bumper. The documents they provided for installation only indicated mounting on the bottom without specifying the need to cut the sensor and rear bumper. I would not have agreed to this if I had known in advance.

Due to the tail lift, my rear sensor became entirely non-functional, and my dash camera and rear camera were completely obscured. Austlift did not disclose any of these consequences to me.

Moreover, Austlift's installer incorrectly installed the tail lift, leading to the complete inability of our van's right door to open.

I requested a refund of my deposit and removal of the tail lift, but they refused, stating that a refund was not possible if I canceled the order.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, consumers have specific rights, including the right to a repair, replacement, or refund, as well as compensation for damages and losses and the ability to cancel a faulty service. I have certain rights to cancel a service under Australian Consumer Law, but Austlift did not refund my deposit, which is in violation of consumer law.

When I explained this to the company, the installation manager agreed to provide a 20% discount as compensation and promised to relocate the incorrectly installed tail lift, rear camera, dash camera, and rear bumper sensor. However, they only relocated the back bumper sensor, and the rear bumper sensor is still not functioning. Additionally, the installer failed to complete some repairs and left a part uncut due to time constraints.

The most concerning issue is that Austlift did not honor the promised 20% discount and instead charged me the full price. They informed me that I would not be able to take my van unless I paid the full amount. I found myself in disbelief at this situation and urgently needed my van for work. Austlift refused to budge, so I had to contact the police for assistance. The police advised me to pay the full amount in order to use my van that day and recommended contacting fair trading and consumer affairs. I had no choice but to pay the full amount to retrieve my van on that day. The installation manager has yet to address this matter, and six days have passed.

I am extremely disappointed with their attitude and level of service.
