My experience at Flinders University was deeply disappointing and isolating. As a refugee, I came here with high hopes, but I was met with racism, exclusion, and a complete lack of support. Most of my classmates refused to speak to me, and I was frequently bullied and ignored. Some teachers were no better — one of the worst experiences was with Cameron Nelson, who treated me with disrespect and made me feel like I didn’t belong.

Throughout my studies, I felt completely alone. The university offered me no real support — academically, emotionally, or professionally. I received no assistance in finding work, no encouragement, and no understanding. The only person who showed me any kindness or support was Tom Young, and I’m incredibly grateful to him for that.

Despite everything, I pushed through and graduated. But I did it entirely on my own — without the help of this institution. If you’re an international student hoping to find support and inclusion here, I would strongly urge you to think twice.

To the President and Vice-Chancellor of Flinders University,

I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding my experience in the Bachelor of Social Work program. I have been enrolled in the program for the past three years, but my first placement was a deeply negative experience, filled with racism and discrimination. Despite repeatedly emailing my placement supervisor about my concerns, I received no meaningful support. Additionally, I found that my two assigned supervisors were unprofessional and unserious about their roles.

Due to these issues, I had to leave my placement, which severely affected my mental health and well-being. The experience caused significant psychological distress, making it difficult for me to continue my studies at that time. However, when I recently attempted to resume my studies, I discovered that the Social Work department had removed my enrollment. This decision, without considering the challenges I faced, is not only unfair but also a failure to support students' mental health and academic progress.

I urge you to take action to ensure that students facing discrimination and mental health struggles receive the necessary support to complete their degrees. No student should have to choose between their well-being and their education.

Based on my experience, I strongly advise prospective students to carefully consider their choice before enrolling in any university that does not prioritize student welfare.

Awful treatment of students. Struggling students with debt are forced to pay $60 for parking infringements to a multi million dollar company. How disappointing that they are prioritising their financial gain over the education and wellbeing of the students needing their services. Do better.

Good place to study, away from the city, very peaceful, full of green áreas and very big if you enjoy go for a walking. People are very friendly and helpful. The library is big and the view is amazing, you can watch beatiful sunsets while you are studying. Plus the quality is really good, and there is plenty space for parking. 📙🤙🏙️🌄🚗.

Dishonest, zero quality teaching, system is a mess, corruption and/or lack of accountability, and academic dishonesty. If you are planning on studying online, run, because it's not truly online and you will need to put your studies/career on pause. Expect youtube videos, barely any lectures, and a lot of MCQs. Unfortunately I cannot put less than 1 star, but I guess the only thing they have going great is a select few lecturers who know what they are doing, but most are either very new or have a massive ego. Forget the appeals system, the staff only cares about liability and their own reputations. They DO NOT care about students. Go to Adelaide Uni for something like an education.

I was at the Northern Adelaide Senior College for the Flinders University day. Some of the staff members have been highly inappropriate by talking bad about the students who had come in. One of the staff members was talking bad about me and my friends right in front of us and the whole class. It was really unprofessional.
