What a delight to see so many people enjoying the Transport Expo at Central Railway. The display outside the platform was very informative, and a wonderful band and singer fill the vast hall with great sounds of Jazz and Classics of times past. But the trains, wow, they were presented in perfect and clean beautiful condition, and packed tour trains left the platforms on time, and cab visits were so very popular especially 3801, looking simply perfect. Children smiling everywhere, such a joy.

I went on the steam train service from Tamworth to Kootingal in August 2023 - and it was incredible. A unique experience - where you are taken back to a forgone time in Australian history. Seated in a refurbished, heritage carriage - being transported across the local landscapes - by the power of steam! The volunteers were friendly and informative. The booking system was easy to use, the tickets were reasonably priced and the overall experience was fantastic. Only things which could be implemented (I imagine if they had more volunteers!) is food and drinks available in the buffet car and perhaps some brief commentary about the locomotive and carriages - and their history of service etc.

What an experience, to see all the heritage trains and buses and the way they have been maintained. The steam trains look immaculate. was lucky to experience this on the heritage expo at the central station where they lined up the steam train and the dining car. The buses from the central station gave free rides which lasted about 20 minutes. Hats off to the volunteers and technicians who dedicate their time to keep them ship shape

A volunteer as on board crew member for several years.
Working with the passengers was enjoyable and satisfying.
After EVERY volunteer was written to for the THIRD time during my role asked about the whereabouts of missing first aid kits I considered it an allegation and removed my service. The operations manager wrote suggesting I had past unresolved issues or words to that effect. I told him what he could do or words to that effect. Such contempt. What a jerk.

Crew volunteer from one day up to 11 days in a row as was my case.
The traveling guests often do not know that. What price is a first aid kit ?
