Gracie Barra Wetherill Park is an amazing gym! During the 4 years that I have come and trained here I have never left the gym without a smile on my face. The facilities are incredible and are well cleaned and maintained. The atmosphere is extremely positive as everyone is willing to lend a helping hand whether you need help learning a technique, or if you just need some encouragement when you’re attempting something new. Our head coach and gym owner Jeremy always makes sure that everything is in working order. He brings a great atmosphere and knowledge of advanced and complex techniques. This is a great gym and I have and will recommend it to anyone who is willing to give BJJ a go!

I’ve had the privilege of training at Gracie Barra Wetherill Park for some time now, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the overall experience. Under the guidance of Professor Jeremy, this gym offers an exceptional environment for both beginners and advanced practitioners alike. Professor Jeremy’s teaching style is not only technical but also incredibly motivational. He breaks down complex BJJ concepts into digestible pieces, ensuring everyone understands the techniques thoroughly.

The other coaches at Gracie Barra Wetherill Park are equally fantastic, each bringing their own unique perspective and expertise. The coaching team fosters a positive, encouraging environment where everyone is welcome to learn, grow, and challenge themselves. Whether you’re rolling with a beginner or an advanced student, the level of instruction is consistent, and every class feels like a step toward improvement.

But what truly sets this gym apart is the support from fellow students. It’s not just about BJJ; it’s about building relationships, pushing each other to be better, and celebrating each other’s achievements—both on and off the mat. Whether you’re working through difficult techniques or just showing up for the daily grind, you’re surrounded by teammates who genuinely want to see you succeed.

If you’re looking for a gym with world-class instruction, a family-like atmosphere, and a genuine passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie Barra Wetherill Park is the place to be. Professor Jeremy and the entire team create an environment where everyone can thrive, and it’s truly an honour to be part of this amazing community.

Gracie Barra Wetherill Park has an excellent facility with a large training space and good amenities. The coaches are friendly and knowledgeable. The culture amongst the students is always very positive and the main reason I, a BJJ black belt myself, enjoy dropping in regularly for training. Highly recommended!

I've been training at Gracie Barra Wetherill Park Jiu-Jitsu for 18 months, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! The gym is always super clean, which makes training even more enjoyable. Jeremy is an outstanding coach and does so much for all of us —his knowledge and support have really helped me grow and become better on the mats and also as a person outside of the gym. All of the other coaches are amazing as well. The classes are well-structured and suitable for all skill levels, fostering a fantastic sense of community. I highly recommend Gracie Barra Wetherill Park to anyone looking to start or enhance their Jiu-Jitsu journey! Can't wait for my next class!

I have been an active member of this gym for the past 12 months. This has been my experience:

Pros:
- The people that train here are friendly and have a strong community

- Good facilities, open floor plan and mat space

- Convenient location if you are located around Wetherill Park. Easy enough with parking etc.

Cons:
- The Gracie Barra training system follows a strict curriculum that feels outdated compared to modern BJJ. Many aspects of the modern game are not taught such as leg attacks and entanglements.

- The Gracie Barra franchise forces you to buy and wear only their training equipment which is quite expensive. You need to train in their gi, rashguard, shorts, etc.

- Severe lack of talent in the coaching staff. While many great coaches have taught at this gym, sadly they do not continue on for more than a few months. Coaches who deviate away from the curriculum are also shot down, which in my opinion hurts the growth of the students.

- Kids classes are often taught by white belts

- This gym is composed of mainly white belts. Very few blue belts and above are training here which lowers the level of talent to learn from.

- Only 1 no-gi class per week which sometimes doesn't even run, it seems to depend on if the gym feels like teaching that day.
This is a gi-focused gym which is ok, but its not fun to come in for no-gi and then find out the class is not running today.

- Non-members can pay to "drop in" to the gym for a day, which costs ~$25. Unless you are an ex-member in which case the cost can be up to $75 to train for the day. I can only guess this is done out of spite because they left the gym.

- The weekly cost of your membership is determined by however much the owner thinks he can charge you. Not all the students are paying the same amount.

- Feedback is not welcome at this gym. For the same reason students have had memberships cancelled if they're deemed to be troublemakers.

- After 12 months of training 4 times a week, the gym owner doesn't remember my name.

Overall, I really wanted to enjoy GB Wetherill Park. The students are friendly and theres a nice community.
The level of Jiu-Jitsu taught at this gym is not as good as other gyms in the area. The Gracie Barra franchise is very restrictive and not fun to train under. Some may even call it a cult.
Before signing up to this gym please have a look around your area for other alternatives.

And of course, please remember to bow to Grand Master Carlos Gracie Senior 🙏🙏🙏 #killers
