there is time for 1:1 for assistance through project work and guidance given. you’re seen as a person and not just another number.

All parents potentially assigning your child to be educated in this facility, please think twice before your decision. This is my experience with this school.
-When I entered this school to trial it, to see whether I wanted to learn here, I thought that the concept of this school was very intriguing, and it is, but there is one issue, if you could say that. The first person to ever talk to me in this school, the first thing they said to me was "What are your pronouns?". I did not reply in a rude manner because I am not that kind of person, but I was tempted. Later on, about two hours later, they had an (Assembly), and you want to know what it was about? Trans people and respecting their pronouns, they also asked the crowd on ways to respect such wishes. Now here is my thoughts. School is a place to learn, and a place to be educated so that you can succeed later in life, not a place where you learn to embrace false information and straight stupidity. Being a "woke" person will get your child nowhere, and put your child at a disadvantage later in life, not only does this school have an assembly, it also has posters EVERYWHERE! So please, before you permitt your child into this school, ask yourself "Do I really want my child to be influenced and indoctrinated by leftists, ultimately leading to a weaker shell of your childs potential?" Sending your child here, is a big mistake.

This review is information for students and parents considering applying for Big Picture School Cooks Hill. It is not a review of the program, staff or location but of the application process, who is successful and how the school is presented.
The Cooks Hill Big Picture website states "Big Picture Education Australia believes that innovative and diverse models are needed within the public system to meet the needs of those that the current model does not support". This would suggest that Big Picture would be inclusive of difference and supportive of those students who are struggling in the traditional school system. In my experience this is not the case with the School instead working as a selective school where those who are already successful in traditional schools are applying and being admitted to the Big Picture. The School is clear in that it wants confident students who can present to a class, can work confidently on their own without teacher assistance and have no extra support needs. This is perfect for students already excelling at school but excludes all students who are struggling. The selection criteria is ableist including discounting students with poor attendance and students with communication barriers and/or anxiety/low self esteem.
If you or your child is excelling at school but would like to try a different style of learning then this school is for you. If you are struggling at school and expect from reading the Big Picture philosophy that this school is open to difference and will support those struggling in traditional school then please think again. This school is not for you. Save yourself and your child the stress of the application process because you will not get through.
