I accepted islam 3-4 years ago, although i never had the courage to go too the masjid. Because ive always been nervous to. But last year i finally found the courage to go. this was the First masjid I have ever been to, I was really nervous walking inside as I didn't know what reaction I would get. Because I am a big white guy with tattoo's, I walked inside, took my shoes off, then was greeted by the imam. He was African appearance. I put my hand out to shake his hand and instead of shaking my hand, he gave me the biggest hug ever haha. He was the most beautiful nicest gentleman I have ever met in my life. He asked me questions and sat me down. Then recited surahs too me. Which were so beautiful. After he finished, he gave me another hug and said he'd hoped to see me again. It was at that moment that i knew that i would never leave islam and i began to study more and more. I walked away from the masjid that night feeling so happy. Thank you sir. I will be back very soon.

I give this rating because of how this masjid is managed. I came on sunday to pray here but the woman's section was locked front and back. It was really hard for me and my mom to pray here. Even we couldn't make wudhu as the toilet was locked as well. Living in Australia is hard to find masjid and when you find one, hard to get in. Masjids should be for both Muslim men and women who need to pray.

A very beautiful and calming mosque. It has a big female area with ablution centers and toilets. And you don't have to worry about prayer clothes; there's a cabinet full of them!

As-Salaam Mosque serves the local Muslim community and provides a place for daily prayers, Friday congregational prayers, and Islamic education for children and adults. During Ramadaan, every Monday there is a very good arrangement for community iftaar. The mosque also hosts various community events and activities throughout the year, promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding. As-Salaam Mosque is an important symbol of the diversity and cultural richness of the Wollongong region.
