We had an outstanding instructor, and the course was exceptionally well-structured. Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful learning environment and top-quality equipment, which allowed us to gain a thorough understanding of how to effectively administer first aid.

The St John Ambulance course I recently attended in Sydney's CBD was their all-day basic life support, first aid and CPR course. I am medical doctor and found this course to be a great first aid/BLS/CPR refresher (including defribrillator use), with excellent and clear delivery of a very wide range of scenarios. There was very reasonable practical and theoretical assessment in stages during the day, and props to use and real people to interact with. My 16 year old son attended the course that day and found it very rewarding. I think everyone should consider such training, because it does add valuable skills where timely measures can potentially help and save lives, including those in the broader community and those close to you. I'll be looking forward to doing this course again in a few years to keep the knowledge and skills up-to-date. Thank you SJA for this invaluable opportunity. We appreciate the Certificate of Attainment too. A special shout out to your experienced trainer Andrew who did a great job delivering the content and assessing the participants.

I attended the five hour course and though I have done many, I learnt things that I didn't know even as a nurse! Our trainer Alfred was entertaining and informative, I encourage anyone with spare time to learn this vital skill with SJA.

Use of VR - Virtual Reality for the real-life simulations of First aid scenarios was a great way to teach CPR, choking, asthma, epilepsy and other medical emergencies. While we weren't wearing Oculus Go headsets for full immersion, it really wasn't necessary to be absorbed into the environment (and probably more COVID-safe).
Its great to see that the additional well-thought-out learning design has not left out of sight the importance of the trainer delivering the session. And in fact, the VR scenarios seemed to reduce the amount of time spent on theory to allow the trainer to focus on the practical. Lynette's experiences were probably the most important to me out of the session and are probably what I am going to remember the most from it (other than the amazing VR!).
Its really great to see St John Ambulance is paving the path for their innovative approach to First Aid. It would be great to see more information on the website of the innovative approach St John Ambulance is taking in its training in Sydney.
Jorgie (admin staff) was really professional, helpful and kind. She had a good handle on the software, signed students in as they arrived. There was some IT difficulty with payments online that seemed to be an issue related to integration that many organisations struggle with.
Knowledge assessment required learners to complete theoretical questions on their phone which really sped up the process.
I’m studying learning design at UTS and found the course both a great insight into innovative techniques in training and a great First aid course.
