The most destructive and dysfunctional environment I have ever seen. So many leave but the school doesn't care because their waiting list is huge, after all it’s the only grammar school with good HSC results and the grounds are pretty and well maintained and you are greeted by very charming & composed well dressed staff who speak so well. The office ladies are very nice - I feel for them, some seem so scared to speak about anything more than the weather.
.
The exclusivity and marketing campaign this school has created DOES NOT reflect what they deliver. Your kid is another ATM. Save your money on important things in life - Don't trust this place, the teachers have comfortable jobs and will never risk their position.
.
BIGGEST PROBLEM: Too many families work at this school and have their kids at the school. These kids coincidentally appear to receive opportunities & awards that other kids will never have. These nasty kids get away with TERRIBLE behaviour. If you raise this issue you are labelled jealous and competitive and a trouble maker - even if it's a problem that has nothing to do with you and you are stating what so many are too scared to say. Too many related families work in the same departments & back each other, making the school a little stagnated and resistant to change and seem to have no accountability.
.
Regardless of how nice and smart some children may be, at this school attendance and punctuality will be used as a weapon to destroy any parent that asks questions. They will make you an example. You will be threatened to be kicked out of the school & will receive absurd paper letters requesting meetings about punctuality. This technique is to steer any serious & obvious wrong doing from the school and make you the parent that has 'attendance issues' so you can't be trustworthy. From here if you mention to a parents that their child is being bullied because the school failed to act, the school will make your life hell.
.
I emailed the school with specific events and in the end I was told to stop emailing because noone reads emails - They are all so 'busy'. Yes they are THAT arrogant. I was told that I was breaching the code of conduct - because I offended a very arrogant teacher. This is not how you improve a school. This is a dictatorship - do not ever question anything or else!
.
When you ask why a private tutor didn’t turn up, you are told your child was at the wrong door, even though you are there, or why a child was under the rain at the crossing waiting for the teacher for 30 mins (because that's the rules), it's never their fault, and you are charged regardless, how dare you ask?
.
Look for an "approachable and caring" school, one that appreciates parents, where you are not just an ATM, where you will not be made to sit and watch the same “ At ccgs we care and do not tolerate bullying” speeches delivered by the worst bullies themselves and very rigid teachers. Kids need schools with teachers that are happy, and who are not bullied by their co-workers.
.
Choose a religious school where morals may exist and teachers are a little more approachable. Unless of course you want a loveless school full of social climbers in range rovers, where your child will be picked on/ or turn into a bully to survive or become invisible to make you feel your money is well spent.
.
Some kids are very happy at this school, mostly the sporty kids because the grounds are very nice but look a little deeper. It's a dark place. It's hard not to notice that scholarship are given to those with relatives at the school.
.
THE BEST PEOPLE at this school are the maintenance workers - absolute champions and hard workers! Events staff are great and a couple of teachers are amazing. Traffic controllers deserve a medal for putting up with embarrassing entitled parents.
.
And NO - noone ever reached out to us. The reply below is another example of how they dismiss everything.
.
Ccgs should apologise to all the kids they let be terrorised. It's a pity that selfishness runs this school over the well-being of our future.

Very high quality renovated modern english block. Highly recommend it. Staff are well trained and qualified, also friendly. Information software department is lacking in some areas of internet. Overall good school. Students fairly friendly.

Today I witnessed unprofessional behaviour by a CCGS soccer coach (dressed in all black) against the referee and visiting team coach. He yelled at the young referee repeatedly whenever the game was not in his favour. A CCGS student yelled expletives throughout the game and also pushed a visitor player after the game. The CCGS coach did not intervene or reprimand the CCGS student. The CCGS coach also did not shake hands with the visiting coach. It's very disappointing to see this type of behaviour from someone who should be a positive role model to school children. At the end of the day we send our kids to school to be educated, good humans. Not ill-mannered football winners. Please educate the CCGS coach on the importance of good sportsmanship and being a good host to visitors. A school is only as good as the students they produce.

A very grand school, but the students weren't. In my experience, students were rude, rude bullies. They were two faced. In the classroom, they were awesome, but in the playground, they were not. In secret, they would vape. Somehow, they would pass around vapes to each other and somehow not get caught.

Why are you deleting or reporting comments that rightfully criticise the school? Sure most of them are ingenuine and are written in a humorous manner but they are there because they are not satisfied with how the school is treating the students. I would recommend listening to the students instead of the higher ups, perhaps creating a survey if you must. Here, I'll add my two cents; the infrastructure does NOT need anymore upgrades. The noise is incredibly distracting to the students trying to learn in their classrooms and the money should go into the education (and hiring better teachers).

Also, PLEASE for the love of GOD stop saying 'oh come on you can do better than that' after a cohort says good morning to the teachers (especially the senior school teachers). It's absolutely infuriating and reveals the large ego of the school.

The school values their students education. They show this by having the initiative to upgrade the history and English building. They have added colour and removed the old classroom style of table and chairs in rows, to more of university style to enhance their learning. The school is full of great people and teachers who want to help.
