For context, I was recently a student at bishop Druitt college around six months ago(so this information isn’t old). I would never recommend this school for any kid. I would actually recommend going to any other school in the area because of how poorly the school handles situations. The school fails in so many areas across the board from mental health to bullying. This is not only coming from me but from many others I have spoken to.

Bullying is handled so badly that it takes you having to tell them you’re suicidal for them to even listen. So many things get swept under the rug. Even though they might not say so, it appears very apparent. The way they go about handling these situations is worse. Even threatening my friends and I with expulsion if we didn’t “shut up”(stop standing up for my friend) about my friends bully since the bully had been hurt by a student from another school. Bullying happens so often due to the entitlement some of the students have.

On the other hand we have mental health. The school preaches about how they are so good with mental health yet where is it? Not from me personally however I have spoken to many of the students from BDC and they have spoken to me on how they are uncomfortable to speak with any of the counsellors or teachers because anything they say gets automatically relayed to there parents. Even though there the ones looking for a safe space to vent and talk without being judged or ridiculed by there parents. The school doesn’t know how to deal with mental health or the aftermath that comes from bullying.

So for anyone out there thinking of moving there kid to BDC be prepared and set up a therapist ready for anything that could happen. The school thrives on showing the students that are already shining yet neglect the ones who lag behind.

We transferred our girls to BDC this year and could not be happier with our decision. BDC embrace the whole child and respect they are individuals with different strengths and ways of learning. The staff and teachers are caring and always helpful and invested in their students. Both our girls love going to school and have grown in their confidence.

Last place I'd recommend for sending any child above the age of 8. It's a toxic environment and my personal experience has been awful. Yes, it's a school and children will have bumps on the journey throughout school. but the way the school handles situations such as ( an ill child, bullied or has home problems) is pathetic. Bishop Druitt College cares only for grades and the rank it holds on the north coast.

A fantastic school in Coffs Harbour, offering a well-rounded education program for students K - 12. A warm and welcoming community of teachers, parents and students, with great specialist programs for sport, music, and the arts. My interaction with the staff at every level has demonstrated a professional and caring organisation. Highly recommended for students at any level of primary and secondary.

Nice school with good facilities, including sports ground and gyms.

Three stars because they seem to favor students that have "richer" parents.

To attend the school a family must be able to part with around $14,000 per year, so most attendees are living comfortable. But if a student has really rich parents he can do no wrong and your child has to grin and bear it.

It is fortunate that some of us parents are educated, mature and civilized. Otherwise we would smack the mother of a child who confronts another child on school grounds with the staff doing nothing.

A professional, supportive, inclusive, beautiful educational environment. BDC’s hard working teachers prioritise their student’s well being and have high expectations towards their individual academic achievement. They are always approachable and friendly. A great school with a great community.

although being blessed with the exquisite experience of working in the school in recent years i have noticed some unexpected changes for the advantage of the students and school. however nothing comes free thus meaning the small improvements came at a overly large price. approximately 20 known teachers will loose there position in the school as they are what has been told as downsizing. the schools original development was for a larger school for more students so they buffed up the teacher count to be prepared. they ended up getting not the expected amount of students and did nothing about the amount of teachers. its not till now the changes are being made for the benefit of the school. please keep in mind any change the school makes is the benefit for you and me and do not do without great thought. other then these changes you school is forced to make i can not express how much i urge anyone to send there kids to the school for the best education.
