LELC was once a nurturing place of care where children were the centre of every decision. Over the past 12 months under the new management of Guardian the bottom line has quite clearly replaced children as the priority. It's heartbreaking for the kids and the incredible educators who do their best with limited resources and support. Concerned parents have been told "if you do not like it, we're not for you" which is quite simply not good enough. A very, very sad outcome for what was a brilliant childcare centre.

Our family has been coming to this Centre since it opened, but I could not in good conscience recommend it to anyone, since Guardian Childcare took ownership in 2023.

Staffing turnover rates are astronomical, rooms are now frequently understaffed, or staffed by student educators or junior casuals. The permanent staff who are there are doing their best, but they are struggling without proper support from Guardian. The Centre is now merging rooms without consultation or communication with parents.

The fees remain high regardless, and Guardian neither respond nor seem to care about parent concerns.

It’s a very, very sad indictment on what was once a beautiful centre.

Sadly, after years of waxing lyrical about this daycare, I feel the need to warn parents away from Lilyfield Early Learning Centre since Guardian has taken over.

The current positive reviews are all from when it was privately owned, and lovingly cared for.

While the current staff work as tirelessly as possible to keep it running well, new policies and procedures from Guardian have meant that an extremely large portion of staff have left.

Kids are no longer sure who will be their teacher on any given day. Structure and the feeling of safety is gone. Often there are times when the ratios are completely off, but Guardian uses the “under one roof” defence. No, one carer should not be looking after 10+ children, especially from different rooms.

Unfortunately, many of our complaints and queries fall on deaf ears, as the administration is stretched and Guardian do not care. We have been told in pretty clear terms “if you don’t like it, maybe this daycare is not for you”.

I feel terrible for all the people I have recommended this daycare to in the past, as I am now embarrassed by the quality of the care. It is simply not good enough.

Unfortunately since Guardian acquired the Centre, it has become a really unhappy place. Over 50% of educators have left. I personally have reached out to 5 different Guardian representatives to escalate what I feel are real safety concerns with the new policies and procedures implemented since Guardian acquired the Centre. This has fallen on deaf ears and culminated in a mass email from the CEO stating if parents were not happy they could go elsewhere.

The Centre is a shadow of its former self. It is saddening and upsetting to witness. I have genuine concerns for the health and safety of educators and children at the Centre.

We selected this centre because 1) of its exceptional NQS rating 2) we liked the set up (i.e. generous play areas for each age group, lots of toddler gym equipment, both indoor and outdoor) 3) the variety of activities for children and excursions 4) and most importantly, the big smile on every child and educator’s face during our tours (we went there twice)

He’s been there 5 months now, and I am very pleased we enrolled him here. The educators are experienced, loving and reassuring. Although my son doesn’t quite talk yet, I can tell how much he likes his daycare by him excitedly packing his diaper bag into the pram upon hearing the word ‘daycare’!

He’s transitioning to the next age group soon (meaning access to more/new equipment/toys), and I’m super excited for him!

The management of this centre is disgraceful. The staff turnover is alarming and the quality of service has diminished with so many experienced educators leaving. Do your family a favour and explore other options.

sadly a big change since being taken over by guardian. remaining staff are well trained and engaged but more stretched with the change in ownership and policies.

For one of the more expensive choices in the area it’s disappointing.

I have two girls at Lilyfield Early Learning Centre. 18 months and almost 4 years. We only started a few weeks ago and my 4 year old has already been on 3 excursions and been examined by a speech pathologist. I have never seen such amazing education in the Early Learning sector. My girls attended a child care centre in Melbourne which was fantastic but Lilyfield is far superior in its education program. The app keeping families up to date throughout the day with photos of the kids is also really great. The staff are wonderful. It is expensive in my opinion, but worth the investment!
